GERRARD BIDDING TO END CELTIC REIGN

Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard has done a fantastic job since his appointment as the Rangers manager last summer. The ex-Liverpool midfielder was given the task of stopping arch rivals Celtic on a low budget at the start of the last campaign and he has made the most of his time at Ibrox.

In his debut season as the Rangers boss, Steven Gerrard led his team to push Celtic all the way for the Scottish Premiership title before they fell apart in the latter stages of last season. Celtic went on to win the Scottish Premiership title for the ninth straight season. Celtic are bidding to win the league title for a tenth straight season in an unprecedented manner but Steven Gerrard and his players stand in their way to achieve that feat. Unlike last season, Steven Gerrard and his players have shown this season that they have a better staying power in the race for the Premiership title.

The former Reds skipper has led Rangers to ten straight wins in the league and that victory run has propelled them to the top of the table. Rangers have a 16-point lead over defending champions Celtic though they have played three games more than their rivals. Rangers face a tricky game against visitors Hibernian on Boxing Day in what’s the first game of week 20 set of matches in the Scottish Premiership. Hibernian are the last team to stop Rangers from winning several months ago. Rangers have won their last ten games in the league. The away win over St. Johnstone two days ago took that victory run to ten games. Rangers thrashed their hosts 3-0 to maintain the 16-point lead they have over rivals Celtic at the top of the log. KemarRoofe, Glen Kamara and IanisHagi were the scorers for Rangers, while St. Johnstone finished the game with ten menafter substitute Michael O’Halloran was sent off seven minutes from time after two yellow cards.
