GERRARD SALUTES SUAREZ

Steven Gerrard has said that he has never played alongside a better striker than Luis Suarez. Suarez has been in great form in the ongoing season and he has scored more than half of the Liverpool goals so far. Out of the 13 goals scored by the Liverpool team in the current season, 7 are scored by Suarez. Gerrard has been with Liverpool since his childhood days and recently, he has played his 600th match for the club.

When asked about Luis Suarez, Gerrard said, “This young lad is a great striker. He is certainly the best striker I have played alongside with. He is in the form of his life at the moment. You look at his performance in the current season. He has performed brilliantly in almost every match. He possesses enormous skills.”

When asked which player he would like to bring back in the Liverpool squad, Gerrard said, “If I am given a chance, I would like to bring Xabi Alonso back in the Liverpool team. He was a fantastic midfielder. I enjoyed a lot playing with him and I still miss his company.”

Alonso played for Liverpool for 5 years and he featured for the Reds in more than 200 games. In August 2009, Alonso left Liverpool and joined Real Madrid.

When asked about the performance of Liverpool in the current season, the Reds skipper said, “We haven’t played up to our potential so far. We were supposed to play better than the last season, but, we haven’t managed to deliver so far. We have been unlucky in a few matches as well. A few draws could have gone our way. But, we can only blame ourselves for that.”

Liverpool’s next match will be against Chelsea on Sunday at Stamford Bridge.
