Gerrard Release Statement
“It’s probably been the worst three months of my life’’. That was the statement released by Steven Gerrard a few days ago as he expressed his emptions and the experiences he has been going through in recent times.
Liverpool’s Steven Gerrard has been heavily criticized for a mistake he did in the past season of the Premier League. Liverpool was ahead of everyone else at the top of the English League by 5 points and with only 3 matches left to play before the season concluded, Liverpool was actually the favorites of winning the league but things quickly changed when the team of Brendan Rodgers locked horns against Chelsea and a mistake from Steven Gerrard allowed Demba Ba to score the opening goal.
Chelseawould later go to win the match 2-0 but the performance of Gerrard was the highlight of the game as the veteran midfielder made a disastrous display and it still continues to haunt the experienced player.
Gerrard said: “I’ve seen it a few times. I don’t have to watch something like that to go through the pain again and again and again. I’ve been through the pain in the dressing room after and in the weeks and months since. I just stumbled across it. It didn’t hide away. I have TVs in my house and I read papers. There is social media. When something like that happens you have to face up and be man enough to take it on the chin. Accept it happened. You can’t change it. Every single person on the planet slips at some point in their life, whether it is on a set of stairs, on the floor or whatever’’.
When the Premier League season concluded, it wasManchesterCitythe club that came out on top but the English players and fans quickly shifted their minds towards the 2014 World Cup which kicked off only a few weeks after the Premier League season concluded.
Unfortunately forEnglandit was a disaster of a tournament for them as the team of Roy Hodgson failed to make it past the group stages after losing against:ItalyandUruguay. It simply was an awful campaign after not being able to win a single match.
Steven Gerrard wants to bounce back from the recent series of disappointing performances and results he has gone through with his country and club. Liverpool begins their Premier League season by playing against Southampton on August 17.
