DEFOE WANTS TO FULFIL RANGERS CONTRACT

Jermaine Defoe is one of the top goalscorers in the history of the Premier League netting over 120 goals across different clubs. The 36-year-old joined Scottish side Rangers on an 18 months loan deal from Bournemouth in January but has yet to establish himself in the first team.

In light of this there had been reports that Bournemouth could recall the forward at any point of the deal. However the 36-year-old has spoken of his intention to complete his stint at the club. Speaking recently in an interview Defoe revealed that although Bournemouth can recall him in the next transfer window, his desire is to stay at Ibrox until the end of his deal.

The former Tottenham forward also backed Rangers to push for the title next season as he believes that the club has gained better experience this season. The arrival of Steven Gerrard towards the end of last season has brought new lease of life to the troubled giants.

Despite starting the year on the same points with champions Celtic,   the Gers have fallen apart in recent weeks and find themselves 13 points adrift with a few games left in the season.

Defoe has scored six goals for Rangers despite being limited to the bench since his arrival. Talismanic forward Alfredo Morelos has been in inspired fornication netting 29 goals in all competitions.  However, his discipline is a source of concern as he received his fifth red card of the season last week in the Old Firm Derby.

This has given Defoe the chance to stake a claim for a starting berth next season as Morelos is set to miss three matches.  The former Sunderland forward has what it takes to succeed in the Scottish league and he would be one to watch out for in the next few weeks.
